This Research Information Page explains how your responses to our survey (and any subsequent interview you opt to undertake) will be used. The survey is expected to take no more than 15 minutes of your time and any follow up interview that you agree to, no more than 30 minutes. The information is being collected for doctoral research purposes by Paul Hawkins as part of his PhD at the UNE Business School, University of New England, under the supervision of Subas Dhakal, Valerie Dalton, Alison Sheridan and Lana Ledgerwood. The details are as follows:

Research Project What leads to breakthrough insights and how can they be generated more  reliably?
Aim of the Research

The research aims to explore what leads to transformational insight in the context of innovation. Understanding what contributes to these Eureka! moments may help innovation practitioners reproduce them more reliably, leading to greater innovation.
Confidentiality Any personal details gathered in the course of the study, whether by survey or interview,  will remain confidential. No individual will be identified by name in any publication of the results and names will be replaced by pseudonyms if quotations are used, to ensure your anonymity.
Participation is Voluntary Your involvement in this study is voluntary and you have the right to stop participating in a survey or interview at any time, without consequence and without needing to provide an explanation.
Questions The survey and interview questions are not of a sensitive nature. They are general in nature and are purely intended to help us advance our knowledge of breakthrough insight and how this occurs in practice. Any follow up interview that you opt to participate in, is intended to explore responses where you have offered an interesting alternative perspective or elaboration that was not anticipated by the researcher.
Use of Information The information you provide is intended for use in a doctoral thesis, which is expected to complete in June 2024, or sooner.  Information from the survey or interview may also be used in academic journal articles and conference presentations before and after this date.  At all times, I will safeguard your privacy by presenting the information in a way that will not allow you to be identified.
Upsetting Issues It is unlikely that this research will raise any personal or upsetting issues but, if it does, you may wish to contact your local Community Health Centre, or Lifeline on 13 11 14.
Storage of Information All responses will be stored in a password-protected environment approved by the University of New England’s School of Business. Electronic data will be kept on cloud.une.edu.au, UNE’s centrally managed cloud server managed by the research team. Only the research team will have access to the data.
Disposal of Information All the data collected in this research will be kept for a minimum of five years after successful submission of the thesis, after which it will be disposed of by deleting relevant computer files and destroying or shredding any hardcopy materials.
